One Perfect Match Scores Great American Family a Much-Needed Hit
Great American Family gained serious traction with the September 16, 2023, premiere of One Perfect Match. After promising to deliver high-quality movies, the network has aired several duds featuring cheesy plots, poor acting, and low-quality cinematography. Devoted fans have struggled to maintain enthusiasm for the network, though the sprinkling of hits have encouraged them to hold out hope.
One Perfect Match captures all the magic rom-com fans have waited for and attains the coveted gold standard which Hallmark consistently achieved before going full-blown woke.
In fact, One Perfect Match competed for viewers against Hallmark for the 8pm Eastern time slot as Hallmark aired the controversial Notes of Autumn, a movie featuring a gay romance--a perverse celebration of sin that has caused former Hallmark viewers to flee to Great American Family in droves.
Great American Family CEO, Bill Abbott, even reached out to the network's followers with a personal email to hype the premiere:
It’s not often that we feel so strongly about a movie that we would tell you not to miss it, but Great American Family’s movie tonight is one of those occasions! ONE PERFECT MATCH, starring Merritt Patterson and Joshua Sasse, has strong characters we hope you love, a fun storyline and heartfelt moments.
One Perfect Match and Great American Family simultaneously trended on Twitter, garnering an even larger following and proving the existence of a huge fan base that is hungry for clean entertainment--something our current secular culture refuses to provide.
3 Ways One Perfect Match Hits the Rom-Com Bullseye
1. One Perfect Match Is High-Quality
This is one movie where the set creation doesn't look like it was sponsored by the Dollar Store. Finn's spacious office, Lucy's workspace, the vineyard grounds--every scene is impeccably framed.
Unlike other GAF movies featuring ill-fitting clothing on the cast, the wardrobe for One Perfect Match is classy, neat, and appropriate. Finn's suits look expensive and perfectly tailored, and Lucy's dresses are both modest and modern.
I'm no expert on cinematography, but it's clear that the production behind the movie is far higher than some of the GAF movies purchased from low-budget companies.
The script is also very well-written, so kudos to writer Ansley Gordon.
The icing on the cake? The intro song, Haven't Met You Yet, by Michael Bublé.

2. The Acting Is Superior in One Perfect Match
Merritt Patterson and Joshua Sasse are top-rate actors, and the onscreen romantic tension they create is natural and palpable.
Though she won't admit it, Lucy yearns for Finn to express his outright interest in her. Likewise, Finn wants a signal from Lucy that she's interested in him, but her professionalism won't allow it. Lucy forces herself to set Finn up on a date with someone else, and he follows through with it even though his heart isn't in it. The emotional stress of it all creates an electrifying tension between the two.
Sasse is exemplary in using his body language and halting speech to emphasize his nervousness at approaching Lucy, the woman with whom he is quite smitten. He phrases things awkwardly when he speaks with her, which we've all done in our dating years--it's so relatable!
Similarly, both Patterson and Sasse make the viewer feel as uncomfortable as they do when they are on dates with other people with whom they have no chemistry or connection (Collin and Molly).
Do you notice another familiar face in the movie? Mitchell Bourke plays Parker, Ella's fiancé--you might remember him from his leading role in A Prince in Paradise.
3. One Perfect Match Reflects Our Values Without Sounding Preachy
St. Francis of Assisi is credited for saying, Preach the gospel at all times. Use words only when necessary. This principal is accomplished in One Perfect Match, which means non-faith viewers can't complain about religious overtones--they are masked.
One Perfect Match demonstrates living a life of integrity. Lucy won't match Finn to herself and refuses to cancel his date with Molly because she lives by a code of ethics. She puts aside her own feelings and does the right thing for others. As long as Finn is a client, she will deny her emotions to preserve her integrity. Likewise, Finn follows through on his date with Molly, even when he's not interested in her, because he is a man of his word who keeps his commitments.
Lucy acts like a lady at all times and lets Finn be the man who takes the lead. In today's world, this seems countercultural, but it's a refreshing return to God's order for relationships.
Success is kept in perspective. Despite being in wealth management and investing, Finn doesn't focus on the clients who can make him the richest--he helps everyone who seeks the service he is skilled in providing. Lucy has worked hard to establish her own small business, but her heart is to help others find love and happiness. Both are successful at what they do, but they aren't controlled by money. They prioritize the needs of others--this has the second commandment written all over it!
Romance is based on finding someone who values family and feels like home, not on fleeting attraction. When Lucy continues having chance run-ins with Finn, her assistant Paige attributes it to "divine intervention," reminding viewers that God will direct our paths if we allow Him.
What's Important to You in a Mate?
At different times in the movie, Lucy and Finn share what they look for in a relationship.
Finn wants someone he can talk to, someone who values family, and a person who loves dogs.
Lucy desires a man who is her best friend, gives her butterflies, and who feels like home.
In the comment section, share what qualities you think are most important in a romantic relationship.

I liked this movie as well! -Maria
ReplyDeleteFaith, loyalty, honesty, ability to talk over things that come between you, financially responsible, not afraid to fail or be vulnerable....these were attributes of my late husband. We were married for 33 1/2 years, together for 35 1/2 when you count dating, when he passed. We went through some extremely difficult times, but our faith in God and each other never wavered.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. This is encouraging. God bless you❤
