Things Are Revving Up at GAC Family
Displaced Hallmark fans who are rejecting the network's rebranded wokeness are looking for a place to go where their morals and values are celebrated.
GAC Family is the answer.
Former Hallmark Channel CEO, Bill Abbott, purchased the former Great American Country Channels in the Fall of 2021 and renamed the network Great American Channels, which served as the umbrella for GAC Family and GAC Living. Romcom fans flocked to the newest destination, expecting Hallmark-esque movies minus the identity politics. GAC Family quickly delivered one original fall movie and twelve original Christmas movies followed by two new movies in 2022 to celebrate winter and Valentine's Day before seemingly stalling out.
It takes time to build a network from the ground up, yet some impatient fans have been grumbling about the lack of new movies, the barrage of sitcoms, and the repetitive schedule. More understanding fans have been supportive, knowing the wait will eventually be worth it.
Patience pays big dividends, and GAC is gearing up to not only give Hallmark a run for their money, but to be a haven for those seeking quality, family-friendly entertainment devoid of political ideology.
Movies should be about escapism entertainment--not force-feeding viewers an agenda. GAC grasps this concept.
After months of little news from GAC, we are now getting more frequent peeks into what is ahead for the network. The bombardment of information can be a little daunting to process, so we are breaking the latest news down into digestible chunks.
July 2022
GAC Family kicked off the month of July with a 24/7 Christmas movie marathon all July 4 weekend. The response from viewers was so overwhelming that GAC extended Christmas in July to every Saturday/Sunday for the rest of the month. The Christmas movie line-up has consisted of GAC original movies, movies previously aired on other networks, and other acquired movies premiering for the first time.
In July, GAC also launched the Great American Adventures channel, which can be streamed FREE through Xumo. The channel focuses on all things Americana from outdoor living to indoor cooking.
August 2022
Starting August 20, GAC will premiere a new, original movie every Saturday night through the rest of the year. The network will begin with late summer movies, move to fall movies, and then transition to 24/7 Christmas movies starting October 28.
The first summer movie to premiere on GAC on August 20 is Retreat to Paradise, starring Melanie Stone and Casey Elliott. The movie is about a woman who tends to the injured shoulder of a difficult tennis player. As they spend time together, however, feelings develop.
GAC will also be rebranding on August 20! While GAC Media will remain the company's legal name, GAC Family will become Great American Family, and GAC Living will change to Great American Living. Abbott states the change "better reflects our vision for each brand and firmly aligns the company under our new Great American Media umbrella."
August 27, fans will be treated to a new, original GAC movie--Love in Bloom--starring Susie Abromeit and Julian Haig. The synopsis states, when her soon-to-be-married little sister and fiancé become marooned at a mountain retreat days before their wedding, Ameilia and the best man, Grayson Tanner, are tasked with stepping in to save the wedding.

More than 200 hours of original content will be available on this ad-supported app, including advice and inspiration from experts in health and wellness, home and décor, cooking, gardening, and more.
