Much Ado About Christmas Plot Summary
Haley is the daughter and sole heir to her wealthy mother's business empire, but she fails to disclose this to her new romantic interest, Claud. With her charitable acts of kindness in the community and down-to-Earth demeanor, Haley certainly doesn't fit the stereotype of an elitist. Although Haley's motives in withholding her true identity are understandable--she wants Claud to like her for her--he feels betrayed when pitching his company's campaign ideas to her mother and learns who she really is. Lucky for them, Christmas is always a season of miracles.
Starring: Susie Ambromeit and Torrance Coombs
My movie rating: B
Torrance Coombs "Makes" the Movie
The staging is opulent, ornate, and altogether lovely for a seasonal movie. Torrance Coombs has eyes one could drown in, and he assumes an English accent for the movie, which adds another layer of sexy. He is a seasoned actor who brings an emotional depth to his character, making the viewer feel what he is feeling.
Although Leona Lloyd is well-to-do now, she once struggled as a single mom and raised herself up by her boot straps. This work ethic, grit, and determination embodies the American spirit.
Poor Choice for a Leading Lady
The conflict in the movie isn't original. Anyone who watches rom-coms regularly has seen similar stories featuring characters who are less than forthcoming about their identities, which ends up causing a rift that needs mending.
Susie Ambromeit is not a good actress. Her performance is sub-par because she makes it obvious she is acting.
Is Much Ado About Christmas Worth Watching?
YES
Despite the script being merely average, it's still festive to watch at least once. Torrance Coombs is the best part of the whole feature, so you don't want to miss him in this one.
The movie is written by Michael and Janeen Damian and directed by Michael as well. You may recall the most watched rom-com Christmas movie of 2020 was Hallmark's Christmas Waltz, which was also written and directed by Damian. He's a stellar producer!
