The Great Christmas Switch Plot Summary
Sophia is a single city girl who is tired of the stress her demanding boss creates for her. Kaelynn, her identical twin sister living in the Midwest, is burned out from the demands of motherhood and married life. To escape the stress of their respective situations, the sisters switch places for Christmas. Their charade ends up helping them discover what they've been looking for is right in front of them.
Starring: Sarah Lind and Dillon Casey (2021)
My movie grade: B+
Better to Live the Life You've Been Given
The movie is fun because both sisters have completely different personalities, so they aren't always able to maintain the opposite persona, which makes them seem "off" to those who know them best. This leads to some comedic scenes.
It's also a heart-warming story to remind us all that the grass is never greener on the other side. We may not always appreciate what we have, but when we walk in someone else's shoes for long, we realize our lives are pretty great just as they are. Maybe a little tweaking, pruning, and fine-tuning can improve our lots and help us keep growing, but no one lives the perfect life--might as well make the best of the one we have!
The Great Christmas Switch Is Identical to a Hallmark Movie
The plot is a carbon copy of Hallmark's Switched for Christmas with Candace Cameron Bure. For GAC Family to really stand out from the competition, they need fresh and original material. Otherwise, they will be white noise. Besides, no one likes a "copy cat."
Is The Great Christmas Switch Worth Watching?
Yes
The characters are likeable and attractive, the script is good (even if it's scraped from Hallmark), and the roaring '20's New year's Eve party at the end is neat. It's got all the Christmas feels everyone looks for in a light-hearted romance movie.
If you missed this movie, you can watch the trailer here and hope GAC plays it again.
